BIFC Meeting
September 2007

The September 10, 2007 meeting was called to order at 7:10 by Jim Cuddy.

Attendees:  Kim Candee, Jim Cuddy, Patrick Duffy, Laurie Elliott, Barb McSally, Tom Mitchell, Amy Monnat, Laurie Palmer, Linda Procopio, Richelle Rumble, Karen Sweet, Sandi Tomarello (sp?), Michelle Turner, Barb Twombly, Lee Verginio, and Leigh Wilson.

Secretary’s Report:  Minutes of the August 6, 2007 meeting were reviewed and accepted.

Treasurer’s Report:  Laurie reported that there was $x.xx in Checking and $x.xx in Savings for a total of $x.xx.  At this time, Laurie Elliott resigned as Treasurer, due to the time it is taking to bring BIFC up to speed as it proceeds with the Not-For-Profit status.   (Background Info:  The previous Treasurer had lost the records because of a move; items were packed and not found.  Laurie has had to retrieve from the Bank, at a cost, all statements from the last three years, which need to be reconciled – a tremendous task, when records are missing.)  Laurie has done a great job under these circumstances.  Karen Sweet has offered to help Laurie.  Laurie kindly turned over the records to Karen.

A motion was made, discussed, voted on and approved that Karen Sweet will now be Treasurer for the 2007-2008 BIFC year.

Coaches Report:  The team played a great game at the Carrier Dome.  Evan Twombly was recognized as Most Valuable Player, along with the efforts of Niko Manning, who stepped in for Tim Procopio, who was injured at the game.

Team Reps

7th Grade:  Corrine Johnston reported that the final roster isn’t ready yet.
8th Grade
:  Barb Twombly reported that bottles/cans money and Raffle Ticket sales are going well.   Roster not ready yet.
Freshman:  Kim Candee reported that the Coach had a parent/player meeting with refreshments.  An explanation of the fundraisers was presented along with distribution of the raffle tickets.
Jr Varsity
:  Barb McSally stepped in and reported that raffle ticket money needs to be collected.  Some JV parents, would also like to host a dinner or two for the JV Team.
Varsity
:  Lee Verginio reported that 15 boys still need to pay for raffle tickets.  Leigh Wilson will follow up on the bottles money.

Web Site:  The Webmaster (Pat Duffy) will post recent pictures and names of current Web Sponsors.

New Business:

A Thank You note was received from Mitch Collins.

Novelties:   Richelle Rumble reported $x.xx sales to date.  She is keeping two separate inventories -- actual cash coming in and actual profit based on cost from Nami’s.

Team Pictures:  Cost runs approximately $3 a picture.  Pat Duffy has volunteered for this task.  Looking at October 6 for 7-9th pictures & September 22 for JV/Varsity Pictures.  Need to confirm with Coaches.

BIFC Meeting Minutes – September 10, 2007

Homecoming:  There are approximately 20 Sr players this year.  Need to find a solution for the Sr.-Parent Picture timing.  Silk corsages will be made by Jerry’s Florist for Sr. Moms. Balloons are shared with Student Council – Pep Rally –BIFC pays half.   Karen Sweet and Corinne Johnston will coordinate arrangements for the Quad Party.  This party is only for Varsity Players and immediate families (parents, siblings). More information regarding Homecoming activities, including the parade, will be posted on the Web, as the time approaches.

Some discussion took place about donating money ($x.xx) to cheerleaders for purchase of supplies used in decorating the homes of Sr. Players the night before homecoming.  It appears that the donation given last year was placed in their treasury and the cheerleaders purchased their own items for this activity.  A suggestion was made to give them a gift card to a specific store.

Bottle/Cans:  Here’s Your Nickel is now closed. Bottles/Cans now need to be deposited at the Downer Street, P&C Plaza, Bottles/Cans Redemption Center.

Concessions:  Sandy Tomarello is helping to get volunteers for the Chain Gang and Concessions Stands.

Both Stands will be open for the Homecoming Game.   Need help for the September 15th Games. Barb Twombly will check with John Yeshick on his availability.  Michelle Turner volunteered to help.

Chris Hayden is handling the purchasing of Coca Cola products.  Amy Monnat is purchasing the other items for sale. A Nacho Machine was donated by Dan Soules (Arby’s).  Barb Twombly will send a “Thank You” from BIFC.

Team Dinners:  So far so good – Thanks to Fauna Lang for helping us in the kitchen.  It is noted that the September 27th and October 11th dinners will be held at the Fireside Restaurant at a cost of $4/player -- $2 will be donated by the BIFC and $2 is to be paid by each player.

TV/Software/Laptop:  With the help of Dan Twombly and BIFC funds, TV/Software/Laptop have been purchased for the Coaches.  Need to think about purchasing a new camera next year.

Scoreboard:  A question was raised about the condition of the score board.  This item may come under consideration if the Athletic Complex referendum is passed in October.

Not-For-Profit Status:  Is well under way.  Submittal will be complete as soon as the Treasurers’ records can be reconciled.

Senior Gifts:   Jackets and watches are tradition – Keep!

Meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.

Next Meeting, Monday, October 1st, at 7:00 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted:
